Bringing Classy Back.

Hey guys! This is Jenni, Erin's sister and this is my first post on Erin's blog. I've been thinking lately about something interesting I could post about because my sister really wanted me to contribute to Belle Peau. I realized I didn't have to think very hard. For a while, the idea of classiness has been bugging me. What is it exactly and where has it gone? Our society these days seems to lack this idea of 'classiness' significantly; it seems like with each year and each new trend, we're getting farther and farther away from this idea.

I suppose when you first consider what it means to be 'classy' your mind focuses on the British Royal family. It's true. The Royal family is most likely the epitome of class in this day and age. But if you look any farther, in places like the United States for instance, it appears that class has completely and utterly disappeared. Now you go to Miami or L.A and see tramps walking around in short skirts and flashing tattoos on their shoulder blades. You see boys (and I use the word boys on purpose. There's a significant difference between boys and men) with pants hanging below their knees and oversized shirts that say things like 'punk'. When did that become cool? When did the world become so exposed? What happened to boys dressing nice, and girls caring about dignity? There is a limit!

I'm not saying tattoos should be outlawed because they reek of unsanitation and trampiness. No. Some tattoos are really pretty and express individualism. But there's a difference between a delicate tattoo and one that covers your whole body! Tattoos and body piercings make it appear like that person does not care about their appearance at all.
I'm also not saying that there aren't some really classy people and clothes present today. Designers like Chanel, Armani, and Versace practically emanate class.

I really believe that class thrived in the early decades of the 20th century. The 30's up to the 50's were the heyday, no doubt. With characters such as Bette Davis, Vivien Leigh, Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn, Princess Grace (and of course the men, James Stewart, Clark Gable, Cary Grant, and we must not forget the men of the 1800's, the Jane Austen period), we are given a role model on which we should all base ourselves. Look back at these marvelous people! Look at how they cared about how they dressed! Look at how they held themselves! With such grace and dignity! The words that trickled out from their lips supported their claim to class, as opposed to the language we commonly use today. When they used curse words, they didn't just drop them like people do today. There was a certain amount of richness in the way they said them.

The 30's had class, and they were in the middle of the Great Depression. So, why can't we have class too? Oh, that's right. Because our morals are backwards.

Sad. Class has died. If you don't believe me, go outside, walk around. Turn on the TV. It's gone. And I believe it's time we bring it back. And yeah, I understand, it seems like only the rich are classy. How can you help bring back class with an empty wallet? It's easy. Be yourself. Care about what you do to your body. Care about what you put on your body. Keep your dignity. Care. Care about yourself, care about others. It's so simple. Find class in yourself. That's my challenge to you.

First they're Sour, Then They're Sweet

AN OUTFIT FOR THE GIRL WHO'S SWEET, AND EDGY!

I'm a loud and ' OUT THERE' person. I'm not afriad to tell you the way it is.

I also love nature and painting and flowers and beingnice.

Can these two personallities coexist?

YES

I'm not afriad to wear my leather jacket to school because People might stare me down and hate me for it.

Yay! Today, I wore this leather jacket for the first time at school.

I love combining the sweetness of a bright floral scarf and the rock-n-roll theme of a rough black leather jacket. A contrast made in heaven.

here is my scarf:

Found this scarf at H&M for $5!

Love it with this black leather jacket!

Even though Here, on my blog, I'm not about the sticking to the status Quote, I have to admit I couldn't part my mind from leaving behind the hollister striped mid-arm shirt that mactched the scarf and gave a bright punch of color.

* I tried to hide the hollister symbol!

Future Fashion Collectables

Winter!

Brr, It's winter and I need some fuzzy sweaters!

^Oh, look, I found some!

Michael Williams"

'Clothing with no obsolescence' has long been my style mantra. When all that's left are the cockroaches, I'm pretty sure J.Press will still be selling Shetland sweaters (left).

Clothing pictured in this post are from the future fashion collection!

Some of my Favorite Pieces

Didier Ludot

"I choose Miu Miu's Spring 2011 collection—I like the glimpse of Bloomsbury and Virginia Woolf. Especially the silk satin skirts pleated on one side and the hand-painted leather jackets and the bright, acid color dresses."
ME: I think this dress looks nice and flowing, especially with the contrast of the edgy jacket hemmed and embroidered with beautifully golden reds, and oranges. The cream jacket really draws your eyes towards the sophistication of the entire ensemble.

Fahad Al Hajiri

"Our favorite jewelry piece for 2011 is Hannah Martin's triangle ring. We love how she's reinterpreted a 3-D triangle shape and converted it into a wearable piece of jewelry with multi-facet angles, some in plain gold and other with pavé colored stones

Beyond the labels, though, the materials are what truly make something long-lasting and hand-me-down-worthy. It's the Harris tweed, the selvedge denim from Cone Mills in North Carolina, and shell cordovan from Horween in Chicago that will make things last a generation or three. My thinking is that if these things have stood the test of time once, they should be able to do it again."

Honey, I've shrunk the kids!

Honey is an amazing element of nature derived from the bee hive. Made when bee's eat nectar, the nectar goes through their intestines and is chemically changed and spat back up into the honey combs of a bee hive.Disgusting, right? Well, wait til' you hear the results of honey when topically applied to skin and hair.Shiny, lustrous, beautifully clean and strong hair.

Honeyilious Hair Recipe

-3 to 6 tablespoons of honey (depending on hair length and condition)
-1 to 2 tablespoon of jojoba oil. Olive oil can be substituted for jojoba but it may darken light hair colors.
-Optional: Few drops of your favorite essential oil. Geranium, Sandalwood, Palmorarosa, Lavender - Dry or Coarse Hair

Mix the honey with the rest of the ingredients. Use your clean hands to massage the honey into your hair. Work the honey in slowly into your strands so that it can be properly applied.
Once the honey mixture has been completely massaged into your hair step into a warm shower and remove the concoction

Honey, This Mask is delicious Facial Mask

Mix to create a thick paste. Massage in circular motions on faces and on body.
Rinse to reveal soft, supple skin.
Honey is a natural humectant, and draw moisture into your skin and purges pores to draw dirt out. It also has antibacterial properties that are good for acne.

My Problem With Girls my Age and Their Blush!

I have this one friend, who really needs some Windex for her mirror.
OH NO SHE DAN'T!

Oh, yes I did!

She is so pretty, but she has no talent when applying makeup. Her sparkly hot pink eyeshadow is roughly applied over her eyelid and brow bone. She plucks her eyebrows till they start committing suicide and jumping off her face and she puts way to much shimmery white on her brow bone. highlighting your brow bone is 'aight', but too much of anything is a bad thing.

Her eyeliner is kinda of creepy. She uses a jet black eyeliner stick and practically draws circle around her uneven eyes. :o

EWWWW!! EECCKK!

Her concealer and foundation is... mehh, okay.
But her blush- OH MY-, her blush is so terrible, horribly embarrassing
I kind of applied some blush on me like she did.

Why don't you enjoy these pictures of me examplifying her (non) ability to apply blush.

When teenagers apply their blush like that, they begin to look like china dolls!

Individuals at Work.

Pictured here is my friend Camille!

Everday she comes in with earrings that are unique and individual and i adore that about her.

What a great way to show you dont't care camille! Finally someone who doesnt care what people think about her!

Next, My BFF anna!

I love her outfits! she allways wears floral shirts that are so flowy and elegant! Love your style anna!

Jenni, We're becoming Famous; My Story

Ahh, the days when I was the New blogger on the Block.

It was 2006, a rainy day. I picked up a site called ClubPenguin. I have to admit I became addicted. Tragic.- the gangsters at my school would say.

In 2007 I found a CP cheat site, and I could find all of the tricks to winning games and collecting coins for my penguin. Getting boring? Hold on.

Then a snake bit me in the nose while I was skiing and I had to go to India for a quick medical procedure.

-Nah, just making sure you're paying attention.

Anyways, I got 'inspired' and made a blog. Starting off, I was on Wordpress, but my penguin friend told me about blogger and said that I'd like it much better.
I did.
I started off here in 2007. A blog about penguin cheats. I made a group of online friends who did the same as me. Once I started getting older, I wised up. In 2007 I deleted my blog and started a new one called " Save our City "

*dedicated to Halting the construction of a high school a stone's throw from my house. The poor horse that belonged to my neighbor was going to be moved, and since they had not money, they would've had to put the horse down. The horse is shown below with me and my friends.
<>

Also, the building site was on a slave burial ground and that sure gave them a problem.

All of our neighbors teamed up to stop this. It would chop our front yard in half and kill our only tree left. we wouldn't be able to go to sleep at nights when there were football games. What about gang members? This was not safe.*

In 2009, they changed the site. Mission accomplished.
But I wasn't done yet.

"There were countless numbers of times where I planned a site and set a goal that was never reached."

Finally, inspired by Michelle Phan, I created a Make-up site. This was my true passion. i loved art, and fixing problems and this was my opportunity to combine both of them and share with the world. MyBellePeau was created. Many times I renamed the blog but my final product was MYBELLEPEAU. meaning 'My lovely skin' in French
On the sidelines i created a photography blog, which i love. Taking pictures is so much fun and another form of art that inspires me.

After days of watching Discovery Health and stacking information from the Internet about skin and beauty in my head, I knew I had gained the confidence and potential I needed to sustain a Blog.

Now it is the begining of a new year ( 2011 ) and this is the year to make a difference.

I would like to announce my sister Jenni is joining the crew. but remember Jenni. I WAS HERE FIRST! :0

My friends pictured above.

I am proud of my ability to Habitually update my blog. YaY!

A Bright Contrast

I really enjoyed this outfit.

My sister here, has beautiful dark chocolate hair and the bright contrast of the yellow made it really stand out. I thought ( especially in the middle picture on the first row) that the whole assemble made her hair look warm and perfectly lit . Isn't dark hair so amazing?

The white pea coat from delia's kind of pulled the entire look together, adding a bit of sophistication and flirty edge.
I think the contrast also accentuates her natural beauty. The black and white floral chic skirt makes her look smaller, because it creates a smaller waist line when pulled up towards bottom of your ribs.
The look would be perfect for a day out in the town, or at church.
Her eyes looks so sad and I really wanted to capture that in the picture in the last row.

I Found My Symbol

Skirt: Express
Black cami- Forever 21
Necklace- Forever 21
Jacket:Energie

It's January and the cold is sweeping in over here! I was wandering through EXPRESS when I found this skirt.
You may not like it but It was my taste, so I bought it. That's one thing kids don't understand. Don't let your mind play tricks on you when those kids glare at you up and down. Its found to be that they liked your outfit. Some people just look mad! Teens buy things modeled after their peers or magazines. Actually, It seems nowadays, the designs and outfits in such magazines as Teen Vogue, or Seventeen, are not really displayed on the many teens at my school. They are to caught up in looking 'normal' not standing out. It has come to my attention kids not only abandon magazine cliche outfits but are trending towards skinny jeans and bright colored tee shirts. Don't get me wrong I used to be like that, and still am, but thanks to my friends Anna, and a little thanks to my friend Thao, I've broken free of the mainstream strain to be 'just like everyone else'. Further more, this outfit is actually pretty simple, and that's what I like. It's me and I won't change.
The necklace- I am pretty sure It's a dove. A symbol of peace.

^ My friend Jenna's 'symbol' is an owl, with which is embroidered and stamped into everything she owns. Her binder, books, purse, bracelets, necklaces, shoes, shirts, and rings. I was inspired to have such a trademark as hers. Plus, hers was cute, and she could draw it on anything.

I love drawing, but I couldn't envision a logo that was a good representation of my character.Well, once I found this necklace, and and some more assembles of 'peace' and dove accessories, I realized my knack for jewelery with such characters wasn't just a coincidence. Well, maybe it was. Either way, It illustrates my well-known peacemaker quality.

I am proud to announce I have found my Symbol!

<------ The dove necklace that inspired me.

Remember: Never allow someone to be your priority while you're just their option .
